Recycling Services

The City's recycling program is a MANDATORY PROGRAM for all residents in order to collect recyclable items at your curbside on the same day your trash is collected.  Your location determines the day.  Place your cart or bin at the curbside by 7:00 a.m.  Violators shall be subject to civil fines.  Only three types of container are approved for recyclables: the orange, City-issued 65-gallon cart, 19-gallon recycling bin, and clear see-through plastic bags for extra recycling items.  Residents that currently have the yellow recycle bins are limited to five bins per household. The following recyclable materials are collected.


  • Office Paper (White & Colored)
  • Magazines
  • Catalogs
  • Newspapers (including all inserts)
  • Computer Paper
  • Envelopes
  • Books (including paperbacks, textbooks, softbacks and telephone books)
  • File Folders
  • Junk Mail
  • Brown paper bags (kraft)
  • Non-metallic wrapping paper


Cardboard and Paperboard Boxes

  • Cereal boxes without liners


Glass Bottles and Jars

  • All clear, brown & green container glass is accepted
  • Remove lids, rinse, labels may be left on


Aluminum food and beverage containers

  • Aluminum foil and aluminum pie pans (ONLY small trace of food residue is ok)



  • #1 Plastic bottles (Water & Soda)
  • #2 Plastic  containers (Milk & Detergent)
  • #5 Plastic containers (Butter & Yogurt tubs)
  • Remove lids, labels may be left on


Aluminum and Tin Cans

  • Soft drink & beer cans
  • Empty Aerosol cans
  • Rinse


List of Materials Not Accepted

  • Any material with substantial food debris (small trace amounts of food residue is ok)
  • Batteries of any kind
  • Styrofoam of any kind
  • Light bulbs of any kind
  • Mirrors, window or auto glass, porcelain, ceramics, glass cookware/bake ware, microwave oven trays, drinking glasses, perfume/cologne bottles
  • Wood or Yard Waste
  • Coat hangers, Wire
  • Household items such as toasters, cookware, bake ware, electronics, appliances, etc.
  • Hazardous or toxic substances
  • Items containing or having debris and residue containing hazardous or toxic substances such as (paint cans with wet pain, motor oil containers, gasoline cans, glue, petroleum products, etc.)
